Holding a side event on «Integrated Land and Water management for Ecosystem-based Adaptation to climate change impacts» at the National Pavilion

On November 17 this year, the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme in the Republic of Tajikistan (UNDP) held a side event on the topic “Integrated Land and Water management for Ecosystem-based Adaptation to climate change impacts” at National Pavilion, which is organized by the Committee within the framework of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt.

This side event discussed the importance of integrated natural resource management for achieving sustainable adaptation to the impacts of climate change. Representatives from various agencies, the Adaptation Fund, and UNDP discussed and shared experiences, best practices and solutions to accelerate climate change adaptation and mitigation to accelerate sustainable development.

It is worth noting that as part of the side event, Giyosiddin Nemonov, UNDP Project Manager “An integrated landscape approach to enhancing the climate resilience of small-scale farmers and pastoralists in Tajikistan” made a presentation on the importance of integrated natural resource management to achieve sustainable adaptation to climate change impacts.

Within the framework of this event, Kurbonzoda Abdullo, Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Murodov Turakul, Deputy Head of the Center for the Implementation of Investment Projects of the Committee, delivered a welcoming speech.
