Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee with the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

On February 14, 2024, on the sidelines of the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention for the Protection of Migratory Wild Animals, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sheralizoda Bakhodur Ahmadjon, and the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Ms. Gretel Aguilar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of protecting biological diversity, ensuring the rational use of natural resources, protecting and preserving rare species of flora and fauna, managing and monitoring natural reserves, access to scientific resources and specialists of the Union for cooperation, and other issues.

It should be noted that the International Union for Conservation of Nature is an international non-profit organization created in 1948, which is engaged in the protection of the planet’s biological diversity, provides information on the state of nature in different countries, monitors and takes into account the species of flora and fauna of different regions of the world that are under special protection, and also has observer status in the UN General Assembly and occupies a special position in the implementation of several international conventions on the protection of nature and biological diversity.
