Ceremonial Gathering Dedicated to World Environment Day at the Main Department of Environmental Protection in Sughd Region
A ceremonial gathering dedicated to World Environment Day was held at the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the Sughd Region, with the participation of A.Sh. Juraev, a representative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, employees of environmental protection agencies, and industry veterans.
Congratulatory speeches were delivered by A.Sh. Juraev, representative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and S.Kh. Kholzoda, Head of the Main Department of Environmental Protection in Sughd Region. They congratulated the attendees on the occasion and emphasized that this day is a joyful and significant event for all employees, specialists, and supporters of environmental protection, nature enthusiasts, and everyone working to safeguard and improve the environment.
It was noted that World Environment Day is one of the most important dates for humanity, celebrated annually in more than 130 countries around the world.
Special attention was drawn to the fact that the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon — consistently raises environmental issues at international and regional forums, advocating for action on climate change adaptation, particularly in preserving glaciers, ensuring access to clean drinking water, combating global warming, and mitigating its negative impacts. His concrete initiatives in the fields of water and climate have received broad recognition on the international stage.
Following the speeches, A.Sh. Juraev and S.Kh. Kholzoda presented letters of appreciation from the Executive Authority of Sughd Region and the Main Department of Environmental Protection to active staff members for their contributions.
During the event, B. Ashuralizoda, Head of the Executive Office of the Spitamen District Executive Authority, read a congratulatory message from the district chairman. The message highlighted the significant contribution of environmental workers to improving the ecological situation, greening and beautification of the country, and the protection of natural resources.
Industry veterans A.A. Sultonov and G.N. Karimov also addressed the audience, wishing young specialists of the Main Department success and achievements in their important and responsible work.
In addition, students from general education schools in the city of Khujand were awarded diplomas and gifts for their active participation and prize-winning entries in a competition-exhibition held in four categories: “Best Drawing,” “Best Architectural Work,” “Living Corner,” and “Decorative Flowers.”
