Seminar on the Results of the Review of Social and Environmental Principles Held in Dushanbe                 

                                          

Dushanbe, June 20, 2025 — A seminar dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the results of the Review of Social and Environmental Principles (SEP) took place at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe.

The event brought together representatives from key ministries and agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Committee for Environmental Protection, Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, and others, as well as development partners, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector.

The seminar aimed to present key findings of the SEP review and to foster open dialogue around:

Strengthening institutional capacities for environmental and social management;

Aligning national systems with international environmental and social standards;

Promoting partnerships with universities and responsible government bodies to develop centers of excellence;

Enhancing strategic cooperation for more effective and sustainable development outcomes.

The session opened with welcoming remarks by Ms. Wei Winnie Wang, Acting Country Manager of the World Bank, and Mr. Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Presentations were delivered by international and national experts, followed by a discussion session and feedback from participants.

The event concluded with a networking lunch and expressions of commitment to continue strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental and social safeguards.
