April 15 – World Environmental Knowledge Day

Every year on April 15, Environmental Knowledge Day is celebrated in many countries of the world. It traces its history back to 1992, when at the UN Conference in Rio de Janeiro, where environmental problems were discussed, the great importance of environmental education of the population of all countries of the world in the implementation of survival strategies and for the sustainable development of mankind was emphasized.

Environmental education and upbringing is an activity related to the formation of an ecological culture, respect for the environment and the provision of environmental knowledge.

The main purpose of the celebration of this day is the promotion of environmental knowledge, the development of ecological awareness of the population, informing the population about problems, safety and the state of the environment, as well as educating every person who is not indifferent to environmental protection.

One of the important tasks of the implementation of state policy is the education of environmental awareness. To this end, competitions are announced annually between media workers and students of secondary schools, the winners of which are awarded by environmental protection authorities.

During the period of independence of the country, two state programs were implemented aimed at improving environmental literacy of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan. Currently, the "Comprehensive State Program for the Development of environmental education and enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025" is being implemented, which contributes to further improving the level of knowledge and environmental education of various segments of society.

It should be noted that the celebration of the Day of Environmental Knowledge concerns not only people engaged in environmental education, but also all citizens, because environmental protection is the health of the population.

The more the population becomes environmentally conscious, the more society will benefit, and our environment will be prosperous and environmentally friendly.

By instilling and promoting ecological culture today, we ensure a healthy life for all generations of society.
