Discussion of the issue of waste management at the round table

On November 14, in the city of Bokhtar, with the participation of representatives of state organizations and departments, including specialists from the Main Directorate, departments and sectors of environmental protection of cities and districts of the Bokhtar region of the Khatlon region, representatives of sanitary and epidemiological departments, departments of emergency situations, education, energy, representatives of public organizations, the Aarhus Centers of the Committee and Bokhtar hosted a round table on the promotion of the principles of the Aarhus Convention and the implementation of the provisions of the "State Comprehensive Program for the Development of environmental education and enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025".

One of the key topics in the focus of the event participants was the issue of waste management. The participants of the event were particularly concerned about the difficult situation with garbage in the cities and districts of the region, especially the city of Bokhtar. It was noted that the current waste situation is associated with a low level of environmental education of residents of the region. To solve this issue, proposals were made by the director of the Tajik branch of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development (ICSD) K. Abdualimov, the head of the Aarhus Center of the Committee J. Yakubov, consultant of the Aarhus Center of Bokhtar M. Rahmatullayeva and representatives of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of the Khatlon region.

To address this issue, it is confirmed that a Regional (Central Asian) Waste Management Center has been established under the Committee on Environmental Protection, which contributes to solving many problems of this issue.
