Interdepartmental conference on the implementation of the “State Comprehensive Program for the development of environmental education and enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025”                                      

On December 15, 2022, at the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the support of the Tajik office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, an interdepartmental conference on the implementation of the "State Comprehensive Program for the Development of environmental Education and Enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025" was held at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe.  The conference was attended by the management and responsible persons of the Committee structures, as well as representatives of ministries and departments responsible for the implementation of the Aarhus centers in the cities of Khorog, Bokhtar, Dushanbe, the village of Garm of Rasht district and public organizations.

The conference was opened with an introductory speech by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Qiyomzoda Zarafo Sufijon, who noted the interest of the State and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, especially the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, HE Emomali Rahmon, in advancing issues of environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, in solving and considering global proposals for ecology and climate change. The opening speech at the conference was also delivered by the Acting Head of the Department of Economy and Environment of the Bureau of Programs of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Dushanbe, Mr. Kai Wegerich.

Muhabbat Kamarova, the national expert on environmental protection of the Bureau of Programs of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Dushanbe, made a report on the goals of this organization and cooperation in various fields of the environment. It was emphasized that the contribution of the Bureau of Programs of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the implementation of the "State Comprehensive Program for the development of environmental education and Enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025" is also significant and fruitful cooperation has been established with the Committee for Environmental Protection in this direction.

Then the head of the Center for Environmental Information, Propaganda and Computer Programming of the Committee for Environmental Protection Tilloi G. spoke about the progress of the implementation of the items of the action plan “State comprehensive program for the development of environmental education and enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025". Also, the head of the Aarhus Center, Yakubov Jamoliddin, made a presentation on the activities of the Aarhus centers for the purpose of environmental education and informing the population by these centers.

Also at the conference, a representative of the Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan spoke on the topic “The role of mass media in the promotion of environmental knowledge, the development of intellectual thinking of society on issues related to environmental protection, reflection of environmental problems in the republic, including the protection of the fertile layer of the earth, prevention of burning of stems of agricultural plants and proposals on this occasion,” it was suggested to the participants of the event.

In the end, the participants received a lot of information during the questions and answers about the timely and high-quality implementation of the points of the action plan of this program.
