International Day of Wetlands                   

                                          

On February 2, 2024, the National Center for Action for Environmental Protection of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology of the National University of Tajikistan, with the participation of 40 people from among teachers and students, held a round table dedicated to International wetlands day on the topic “Protection of wetlands and implementation of Ramsar Conventions in the Republic of Tajikistan".

At the round table, the director of the Center Shermatov Kh. and the dean of the faculty of biology Karamatulloi Qurban made an opening speech and spoke about the essence of protection and maintenance of water and swamp areas and the issues of climate and water changes in the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the round table, speeches and reports were presented by the Center’s staff and teachers from the Faculty of Biology National University of Tajikistan, and current issues and problems in the area of protecting water and wetland areas were discussed.

As a result of the round table, the participants considered an important issue to be the need to strengthen cooperation between scientific universities, scientists with the Committee for Environmental Protection in the direction of promoting environmental education and propaganda, as well as training highly qualified personnel in the field of ecology and biology.
