Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan Bakhodur Sheralizoda met with the head of the Saudi delegation at COP28, Minister of Energy His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud. The meeting discussed initiatives in the field of environmental and climate protection at the global and regional levels. The meeting was held on the margins of the COP28 conference in Dubai.

During the bilateral meeting, Bakhodur Sheralizoda emphasized Tajikistan's commitment to addressing climate change and its efforts in the field of environmental protection.

Tajikistan prioritizes water and climate change issues both globally and regionally through activities such as the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028 and the High-Level International Conference on the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development", Sustainable Development 2018-2028. Through these initiatives, Tajikistan has demonstrated its leadership in environment and climate change sectors.

The CEP Chairman also provided an update on the UN General Assembly resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation, noting that the President of Tajikistan announced at the World Leaders Summit on Climate Change Action that our country will be the first to make a financial contribution to the International Glacier Trust Fund.

Both sides also discussed the climate change negotiation process and emphasized the importance of finding solutions to the remaining challenges at COP28. Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their readiness to work together and with other countries to address pressing climate issues, including through cooperation in the Green Climate Fund.

The meeting of the Chairman of the Committee Bakhodur Sheralizoda with His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman Al Saud emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate change. By sharing experiences and coordinating efforts, countries can achieve a greater impact on their actions to combat climate change.
