Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Umut Achar

                                          

On May 11, 2023, a meeting was held between B.A. Sheralizod, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mr. Umut Achar, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Mr. Umut Achar arrived at the Committee in order to get acquainted with the Chairman and the activities of the Committee.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection were discussed. The Chairman of the Committee noted that an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey “On cooperation in the field of environmental protection” has been prepared for signing. The draft of this Agreement was approved by the decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated December 12, 2019. The issues of the implementation of the Zero Waste project, air quality monitoring, the development of regulatory legal acts on waste management, the phasing out of plastic containers up to 15 microns and the disposal of plastic were discussed.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey expressed interest in bilateral cooperation and in strengthening cooperation between the environmental agencies of the two countries.
