Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee with the FCDO Development Director for Central Asia

On May 12 of this year, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, B. A. Sheralizoda, met with Mirza Jahan, FCDO Development Director for Central Asia of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Issues related to the results of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the readiness of the Republic of Tajikistan to participate in the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, were discussed at the meeting.

During the meeting, the issues of resource mobilization and the possible contribution of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to capacity-building on environmental protection and climate change were also discussed.

The Chairman of the Committee also noted the importance of holding the upcoming 2nd High-level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” and the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, HE Emomali Rahmon to declare 2025 the "Year of Glacier Conservation" and the creation of an International Fund for the Conservation of Glaciers.
