Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee with the US Ambassador to Tajikistan                  

                                          

On June 30, 2023, Mr. Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with the US Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Manuel Micaller.

Issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of biodiversity protection and climate change were discussed at the meeting. The Chairman of the Committee noted the Committee's intentions to cooperate on strengthening the capacity of specialists and technical equipment of protected areas.

The Chairman noted the need to develop environmental standards that meet international requirements.

The meeting also discussed the need to modernize the Agency for Hydrometeorology to monitor and provide accurate data on water and air quality. The discussion focused on the preparation of the Tajik pavilion at COP 28 in Dubai. 

And also during the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee invited representatives of the US Embassy and USAID to participate in the NDC Forum, which will be held in Dushanbe from July 3-7, 2023.

The US Ambassador expressed interest in bilateral cooperation and in strengthening cooperation between specialists of the two countries.
