Meeting of the working group in the city of Kanibadam                 

                                          

This year, specialists of the Main Department for Environmental Protection in Sughd region continue to cooperate with the public organization "Youth Group for Environmental Protection" by the Aarhus Center of Khujand in the implementation of the project "Protection of birch forests and endangered species of animals in the wetland zone of the Tajik Sea".

A meeting of the working group on the formation of the "plan for the development of birch forests of the wetland zone of the upper reservoir "Tajik Sea" was held in the hall of the Technological College named after A. Kahhorov in the city of Kanibadam. The meeting was attended by, in addition to representatives of environmental protection bodies and public organizations, an ecologist expert, representatives of the society of hunters and fishermen of the city, the rural jamoat and the Department of education of the city of Kanibadam.

It should be noted that this meeting was devoted to discussing the results of the work done during the year after the implementation of the project and determining the activity plan until the end of 2023.

As part of the program of the meeting of the working group, the chief specialist of the Main Department, employees of the public organization "Youth Group for Environmental Protection", an expert – the ecologist and the director of the society of hunters and fishermen of the city informed the participants about the status of work to determine and adopt the status of a "Specially protected zone" for the birch forest of the Kanibadam region, including its name, the progress of the project "Protection of birch forests and endangered species in the upper reservoir "Tajik Sea", work with students of urban schools to improve environmental knowledge, the results of the study "analysis of the overall economic value of ecosystem functions of the wetland zone"", familiarization with the state of birch forests and the area, existing problems and ways to solve them, presentations and presentations were presented. At the end, proposals were heard on the control and development of the region, taking into account the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources.

The Main Department of Environmental Protection in the region for the implementation of further activities to improve the socio-ecological state of the region and environmental protection, as well as the implementation of the "State Comprehensive Program for the development of environmental education and education of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025" continues fruitful cooperation with the public organization "Youth Group for Environmental Protection"/The Aarhus Center in Khujand.
