Meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammad Suleiman Al-Josser

November 6 Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon in the city of Sharm-Al-Sheikh of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-27) held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammad Suleiman Al-Josser.

Issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank were discussed at the meeting.

The President of the country, respected Emomali Rahmon, expressed satisfaction with the level of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank and highly appreciated the bank's contribution to the implementation of projects aimed at the socio-economic development of Tajikistan.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of a number of important projects in the areas of education, healthcare, energy, transport, irrigation and other priority socio-economic areas of Tajikistan.

During the conversation, it was recognized as necessary to continue the process of financing priority projects in Tajikistan, as well as to develop and implement a Partnership Strategy between Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank.

Also during the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on joint cooperation in the direction of preventing and reducing the impact of climate change, natural disasters, the need to finance recovery measures after the pandemic crisis and other external factors for the economy of our country.

Financing for infrastructure development, cooperation in the energy sector and the use of Tajikistan's hydropower resources were named as other opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations.

At the end of the conversation, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon invited the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group to visit the Republic of Tajikistan.
