National seminar was held in Dushanbe on the topic “Trends and dynamics of biological diversity conservation in the Republic of Tajikistan”.

                                                                

On February 21, 2023, in Dushanbe, at the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and its subordinate centers, a scientific seminar was held on the topic “Trends and dynamics of biological diversity conservation in the Republic of Tajikistan” with the participation of 35 specialists, scientists and experts from relevant government ministries and departments.

The seminar was opened with a welcoming speech by the director of the National Action Center for Environmental Protection of the Committee for Environmental Protection Kh. Shermatov and the vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Saidov A. spoke about the achievements, priorities and problems in the direction of protection and conservation of biological diversity in the Republic of Tajikistan.

According to the program of the seminar, presentations and reports were made on the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Genetic Resources”, the Red Book of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Global Program for the Protection of Biological Diversity, the UN Convention until 2030, as well as the National Strategy and Action Plan for the Protection and Rational Use of Biological Diversity of the Republic Tajikistan until 2030”.

During the discussions, the participants of the seminar made proposals on various aspects of biological diversity protection, biological safety issues and protection of unique species of plants and animals.

As a result of the seminar, the resolution of the seminar on the issues discussed was unanimously adopted.
