Opening ceremony of the Constituency Meeting of the Global Environment Facility for Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Switzerland - 2023 in the city of Dushanbe            

                                          

On May 18, 2023, the opening ceremony of the basin meeting of the Global Environment Fund for Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Switzerland - 2023 was held at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe with the participation of the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Qiyomzoda Zarafo, Director of the SCO in Tajikistan Ms. Salome Steib and representatives of the aforementioned countries.

In his opening remarks, respected Kiemzoda Zarafo Sarval expressed his gratitude to the global environmental fund for its constant attention and financial support to the environmental activities of the Republic of Tajikistan and touched upon the issues of biodiversity protection, agro-biology, climate change, and issues of strengthening the biological security framework.

It should be noted that the event with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was organized by the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and together with the Global Environment Facility.

The purpose of this meeting is to address the issues of country coordination, increased communication and efforts on access to information, and adoption of basin management issues, such as the procedures in which countries should receive information from the global environmental fund project implementation review.

Recall that the event is held from 18 to 20 May this year, and a study tour is planned for the participants of the event to the Muminobod district of Khatlon province on 20 May.
