Solemn meeting dedicated to the International Environment Day                   

                                          

On June 5 of this year, a solemn meeting dedicated to the International Environment Day was held in the conference hall of the central office of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The festive event was opened by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Qiyomzoda Z. S., who read out the text of the congratulations of the Chairman of the Committee dedicated to this important environmental date.

Then, the order of the Chairman of the Committee was read out, where a number of activists and veterans of the environmental industry were awarded the signs “Excellent Environmental Protection Worker”, “Honored Worker of Environmental Protection”, as well as certificates of honor and letters of thanks.

The International Environment Day, as an international initiative, arose from the "Petition of the Cops" to the UN Secretary General, signed on May 11, 1971 by 2,200 scientists and cultural figures from 23 countries of the world. In 1972, Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, hosted the World Conference on Environmental Protection, which was attended by representatives of 113 countries of the world. At the conference, it was decided to celebrate June 5 annually as International Environment Day.

During the period of State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the International Environment Day is celebrated at the state level. In the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, the city of Dushanbe and other cities and districts, agitation and propaganda events and cultural programs are held, where the main attention is paid to environmental issues.
