Visit of the management of the CEP with guests to the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka"                 


                                          

At the 45th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of World Heritage, held in Saudi Arabia, the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka" was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on September 20, 2023.

In the context of this important event, on the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, on October 29 of this year on the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a delegation consisting of Mr. Jamil Ahmad, Head of the Department of Government Affairs of the UN Environment Programme in New York, Ms. Sabine Olthof, Director of the German Office for International Cooperation in Tajikistan (GIZ) and other senior officials made a study visit to the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka".

Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection Sheralizoda Bakhodur Ahmadjon at the celebration on this occasion stated that measures on inclusion of the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka" in the UNESCO World Heritage List were realized within the framework of implementation of instructions and assignments of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and realization of environmental policy of the Government of the country.

It was noted that the State Natural Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka" is the first state natural reserve of Tajikistan, which was established on November 4, 1938, with the purpose of protecting and preservation of unique ecosystems of desert and meadows and diverse fauna typical for desert. The region an area of 49.7 thousand hectares is important in the protection and preservation of biological diversity and the increase of its resources.

The guests visited the Reserve's museum and then toured various sites, aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and forests of the Reserve.
